Visa runs from Nha Trang
Overnight coach from Nha Trang to Cambodia (Moc Bai) or Laos (Bo Y) from VND 1,300,000 per person round trip, with Vietnam e-visa support all the way. Or skip the trip: e-visa and visa extension help in Nha Trang.
Living in Nha Trang and your Vietnam stay is running out? The two land borders we use are a long drive away: Moc Bai into Cambodia, past Ho Chi Minh City, and Bo Y into Laos, in the Central Highlands. Both accept the Vietnam e-visa. You travel there overnight by coach and are back the next evening. We explain every step on the way and follow your new e-visa while you are at the border.
We are a private trip organiser, not a government office. Visa approval and entry are always decided by the authorities. What that means for you.
Two routes
Both trips are long, about 500 km each way. The deciding question is usually your nationality: Cambodia accepts its e-visa and sells visas on arrival at Bavet, while Laos does neither at Phou Keua.
Cambodia visa: Cambodia e-visa we arrange before the trip, or visa on arrival at Bavet.

From Nha Trang a visa run is a big day out. Depending on your visa, one of these may suit you better. We tell you honestly which one.
Some visa types can be extended inside Vietnam, with no border crossing. Send us a photo of your current visa and we check whether yours can.
Visa extensionWe apply for your Vietnam e-visa, from 1 hour to 4 days for urgent cases. Fly out from Cam Ranh Airport and back in, or use it for your land run.
E-visa pricesWho this is for
Nha Trang has a growing community of foreigners who stay for months at a time. We check that the route fits your passport before we recommend it. A visa run only works when both the exit and your way back into Vietnam are practical for you.
Common questionsBorder-day plan
The exact order can vary with the border and the officers' instructions, but the plan is always the same: confirm documents first, agree the schedule, complete the exit, and check your new Vietnam entry record before heading back.
To Cambodia
Overnight coach: leave Nha Trang 21:30, back 22:00 the next day.
Board the overnight coach. On the way, our team explains each step of the border procedure by WhatsApp.
You reach the border next morning, after about about 500 km on the road.
Get your Vietnam exit stamp and send us a clear photo of it, so our team can check your new Vietnam e-visa straight away. Show the Cambodia e-visa we arranged, or get the visa on arrival at the counter and pay in US dollars. Then wait on the Cambodian side while we follow your Vietnam e-visa.
Once your new Vietnam e-visa is approved, exit Cambodia and re-enter Vietnam at Moc Bai. Send us a photo of your new entry stamp so we can check it.
The coach heads back to Nha Trang. If your e-visa or the queue takes longer, we agree the plan with you on the day.
Arrive back at the coach office in Nha Trang.
To Laos
Overnight coach: leave Nha Trang 21:30, back 22:00 the next day.
Board the overnight coach. On the way, our team explains each step of the border procedure by WhatsApp.
You reach the border next morning, after about about 480 km on the road.
Get your Vietnam exit stamp and send us a clear photo of it, so our team can check your new Vietnam e-visa straight away. Show your passport: you either enter visa-free (for example Russian, Korean, Japanese and ASEAN passports) or with the Lao visa we arranged before the trip. There is no visa on arrival here. You wait briefly on the Lao side while we follow your Vietnam e-visa.
Once your new Vietnam e-visa is approved, exit Laos and re-enter Vietnam at Bo Y. Send us a photo of your new entry stamp so we can check it.
The coach heads back to Nha Trang. If your e-visa or the queue takes longer, we agree the plan with you on the day.
Arrive back at the coach office in Nha Trang.
Times are typical, not guaranteed. Mountain roads, border queues and e-visa approval times vary, and the order of steps can change on an officer's instruction.

Before you book
We would rather you read this now than find out at the border.
Leaving Vietnam and coming back is a new entry. The border officer decides whether to admit you, every time. No trip organiser can promise that outcome, and we do not.
A Vietnam e-visa is used at the border gate written on it. For these trips that is Moc Bai or Bo Y. Both are on the official list of e-visa border gates.
Visa exemptions for Cambodia and Laos, and e-visa eligibility for Vietnam, all depend on your passport. Two travellers in the same car can face different requirements.
We explain the route and what we know about the procedure. You remain responsible for checking that this trip fits your nationality, visa type and plans, using official sources.
Questions
A visa run is a short trip out of Vietnam and back in across a land border, so that you can enter again on a new visa or a new visa-exempt stay. It is a normal international exit and a normal new entry. Nothing about it is automatic: the border officer decides on entry each time.
Neither is close. Bo Y, on the Lao border north-west of Kon Tum, is about 480 km away (8–9 hours each way). Moc Bai, on the Cambodian border west of Ho Chi Minh City, is about 500 km away (7–8 hours each way on the expressway). Both routes use an overnight coach: leave Nha Trang at 21:30, cross the border in the morning and be back around 22:00 the next day.
It depends on your passport. At Bavet (Cambodia) you can use a Cambodia e-visa, which we arrange before the trip, and most nationalities can also buy a visa on arrival. At Phou Keua (Laos) there is no visa on arrival and the Lao e-visa is not accepted, so the Laos route suits passports that are visa-exempt for Laos, such as Russian, South Korean, Japanese and ASEAN passports, or travellers with a Lao visa arranged before the trip, which we can do for you. Send us your nationality and we'll recommend one.
Yes. Both Moc Bai (Tay Ninh) and Bo Y are on the official list of border gates where foreigners can enter Vietnam with an e-visa, published on evisa.gov.vn. Your e-visa must name the gate you will use.
No. Nobody outside the Vietnamese authorities can. We organise the trip, explain the procedure and check your paperwork with you before departure, but the decision to admit you is made by the border officer when you arrive. Be wary of anyone who promises otherwise.
Sometimes. It depends on your visa type and whether an organisation can sponsor the extension. Many tourist e-visas cannot be extended inside Vietnam, and then a visa run is the practical option. Send us a photo of your current visa page and we will tell you honestly which applies. See e-visa and extension.
Reviews
Real reviews from foreigners we have helped, copied from Google Maps, where Vietnam Legal Support (MP Viet Visa), our sister brand within MTC Viet Nam, is rated 5.0 from 37 reviews. The first one is from a visa run from Quy Nhon to Laos, run by the same team.
Excellent service. I was looking for a car for two for a visa run from Qui Nhon to Laos. The price was the lowest on the market, and the driver drove carefully, observing all traffic rules. They picked us up from home and drove us home. … The car was clean and comfortable. Miss My supported us online with all our questions. We were completely satisfied.
Transparent Cost: Yumi explained every cost clearly, from A to Z, and provided official invoices and receipts. There were no hidden costs or surprises. … Excellent Service from HCMC to Moc Bai: The private car was clean and comfortable, and the driver was very professional. … I could simply follow her instructions and everything was taken care of smoothly.
